For shopping, there’s a supermarket in Klecken right next to the apartment building. There’s also a pharmacy there. Several bakeries offer fresh rolls and other delicious baked goods. In addition, there are other retailers in town, such as a computer store. If you’d like to eat out instead of cooking for yourself, you’ll find an osteria in Klecken, among other options.

There are also sights to see in Rosengarten, such as the Hünenbett in Klecker Wald, which is less than two kilometers from our guesthouse. Stroll through the forest and visit the megalithic tomb, which was built in the Neolithic period. The passage grave in Klecken is a megalithic structure of the Funnel Beaker culture. The name Hünenbett (Giant's Bed) comes from the Middle Ages, when people thought the structure had been built by giants because they couldn't imagine that humans could arrange such powerful granite stones.

An attraction in Rosengarten is the Kiekeberg Open-Air Museum. Regional history comes alive in the open-air museum. More than 40 historic buildings from the period between 1600 and 1970 are located on the grounds, and craftspeople practice traditional trades. Watch how plowing is done with horses and try out recipes passed down from past times yourself. Old domestic animal breeds live at the Kiekeberg Open-Air Museum; Black Pied Lowland cattle and Bentheimer Land sheep graze in the pastures. In addition, Pomeranian domestic geese, Ramelsloh chickens, Bunter Bentheimer Land pigs, and domestic goats populate the museum grounds. In the farm shop, you can buy organic products such as preserved vegetables, fruit spreads, and homemade sausage.

To refresh yourself during your visit, a restaurant and a cafe are available. Diverse permanent and special exhibitions can be seen in the buildings of the open-air museum. Mountains, valleys, and lakes define the Schwarze Berge Wildlife Park in Rosengarten. More than 100 animal species can be spotted in this nature reserve, which features open-air enclosures and petting zoos. Among others, bears, alpacas, moose, pot-bellied pigs, badgers, and peacocks live in the wildlife park. You’ll get the best view and a magnificent panorama from the 45-meter-high Elbblick Tower. There are plenty of dining options: in addition to the wildlife park restaurant, you’ll find the self-service restaurant “Futterkrippe,” the “Waldhaus” snack bar, and the arts and crafts hall—where you can grill over an open fire—as well as picnic areas.

The beech forests in the Rosengarten, through which hiking trails wind, are protected nature reserves. The beech forests in the Rosengarten are surrounded by the Rosengarten–Kiekeberg–Stuvenwald Landscape Conservation Area, which is known for its striking ridges and deep, dry valleys. The districts of Harburg and Hamburg-Mitte are particularly easy to reach from Rosengarten. The train will take you to Harburg in ten minutes, and it only takes twice as long to get to the main train station. Buchholz in der Nordheide and Seevetal are also very easy to reach, offering a wide range of shops and unique attractions.
